We are a dynamic, reasonably large practice located in Burnham, situated between Slough and Maidenhead. Picturesque Burnham Beeches is about 2 miles away and Windsor approximately 5. We are just 2 miles from J7 of the M4 and the M40 can be picked up at nearby Beaconsfield. We have a list of 17,500 patients with five full time partners, three part time partners and two salaried GPs. We have been a training practice for approximately 30 years and have had a high standard of registrars in the past. Burnham and its surrounding area has a pleasant mix of rural and semi-urban patients with a complete mixture of social class 1 and social class 5. We cover an area between Slough, Maidenhead and Beaconsfield. Registrars benefit from a full complement of attached staff which includes all the usual members of a primary health care team including physiotherapist, district nurses, midwife, drugs counsellor, dietician and podiatrist who all located on site. We are very committed to training and therefore have students from members of these teams as well. Although the practice is large - you will feel completely part of the team - and it is well known to be a very friendly and approachable practice. We currently have two GP trainers with two further GPs doing the trainers course at present. We also have a retired partner who will give extra tutorials to supplement your learning. Many of the doctors have their own special interests including COPD, sports medicine, acupuncture and terrible jokes!
Our busy practice has a great mix of patients and we provide excellent grounding for CSA and AKT exams which we hope will help us to maintain our current 100% record. We meet each day at 11.30am for coffee, paperwork and telephone advice. This daily meeting works well and is a lively and relaxed forum for discussion, humour and general offloading of any worries.
You will of course get your own room and a complete grounding in all the basics of general practice and a full spectrum of types of patients. As part of your protected time you will attend a course of VTS on a Tuesday. Thursdays is our training day where we do a joint surgery for an hour which will cover your “COTS” (consultation observational tool) which is followed by a tutorial with your trainer. After this there is a practice tutorial for an hour attended by the whole practice and then lunch. This works out as a lovely training morning.
We are more than happy for you to visit if you would like to view the practice or simply speak to us on the telephone.
