Our Mission Statement:
“To provide a high quality General Practice training attachment in a stimulating, enjoyable and supportive environment.”
West Windsor and Eton Medical Practice are a two site practice located in historic and beautiful Windsor and Eton looking after approx 11,300 patients in total .The two sites are very different and although you will be based mainly in Windsor, you will have opportunities to work at Eton too. There is a large range of patients with diverse socioeconomic groups and the population includes two residential/nursing homes, local schools, the Castle and families of soldiers situated in the nearby army barracks.
Both surgeries are paperless and use the EMIS system. Surgeries are by appointment and while patients are free to see any doctor, continuity of care is facilitated by encouraging patients to stay with the same person. Surgeries are held every morning and afternoon, with an additional late night on a Thursday and extra provision on a Saturday morning.
The team includes eleven doctors, many of whom have specialist interests such as acupuncture, cardiology, dermatology, diabetes, drug abuse, geriatrics, minor ops, pediatrics, police surgeon, sexual health and family planning, writing for the nMRCGP as well as a full team of associated professionals including health visitors, district nurses and counselors.
Dr Nuzhet A-Ali is the main trainer but everyone is committed to the learning environment ethos of the practice and you will receive input and support from all members of the practice. As a result we hope our trainees will enjoy the exposure to a varied and interesting population and certainly feedback from our most recent trainee from King’s College, London confirmed this.
To facilitate our transition to a training practice, Summer 2011 sees our Windsor site relocating to new purpose built premises in Vale Road, a two storey complex with its own training wing and seminar room, allowing us the space and opportunity to expand and improve our services even further.
The practice holds regular clinical meetings on Monday lunchtime to hear from outside speakers, discuss significant event, present audits and interact in multidisciplinary meetings with our community colleagues; the nature of these educational meetings is such that everyone is encouraged to be involved and contribute. This is in addition to regular protected time for locality (EPIC) meetings every two months.
p>We are looking forward to sharing our knowledge with future trainees and letting them experience the unique range of general practice we have to offer. We are a friendly and welcoming practice so please feel free to contact us if you wish to discuss your placement or if you want to have a look around.Back to main VTS Training Practices list
