Our PMS urban practice is based in two purpose built surgeries both of which are recognised for training GPs, medical students and primary care nurses. Twenty-one full and part-time GPs help to look after 23,000 patients.
The practice is committed to innovation in providing health care for our patients and a protected working and learning environment for our staff and Primary Health Care Team which includes Practice Nurses, District Nurses, Health Care Assistants, Health Visitors, Community Midwives, Substance Misuse Keyworker, Dieticians, a Community Pharmacist, Osteopaths, Physiotherapists and Counsellors.
The whole practice is committed to training: we have four trainers and another GP preparing to become a trainer. We have at least one educational meeting a week. We led multi-professional primary care education locally when Slough had its own PCT.
We place an emphasis on communication, continual development and learning from each other's experiences through audit, incident recording and team problem sharing and solving.
We have been a paper-light practice since 1991 with a hosted clinical system with links to the local hospital, NHS net and internet for support systems.
We are actively involved in local commissioning initiatives. We encourage our staff to have interests outside the practice , which we believe helps improve the quality and range of care we offer to patients and provide additional training opportunities for learners at the practice. Currently we have GPs with special interests in Substance Misuse, Family Planning, Gynaecology, Cardiology, Respiratory Medicine, Diabetes and Sports Medicine ,
The practice is structured to fulfil our ethos - that the most appropriate person undertakes the work necessary, to deliver high quality, efficient primary care.
This is a busy practice with a varied mix of population, ethnicity and interesting pathology which reflects the locality. We work hard but enjoy what we do and its never boring here. We are keen to share our enthusiasm for primary care with others.
You'll find us a genuinely warm, friendly bunch, comprising of a variety of characters from different backgrounds. We even find the time to socialise as a practice - and not just at the Christmas party!
