The practice population is approximately 11,200 located in an urban area, all within a 3 mile radius.
We have two surgeries, one in an affluent new area call Warfield and the other in a more deprived area around "old" Bracknell called Harmans Water (picture above). Bracknell was redeveloped in the 1960's and today’s town is a collection of housing estates arranged around a central shopping and leisure area.
New developments are added all the time and this has resulted in a very mobile population with a 10% turnover each year. The surgery started as two single-handed GPs who joined to build the premises at Ralphs Ride; expansion of the building and staff has taken place over the years and in 1997 the Warfield site was opened. We now have 6 doctors, 4 practice nurses and around 15 staff, fully supported by external services. A large site next to the practice is being developed for housing, so another expansion is expected in the next couple of years.
We have close contact with the other 12 practises in the area and we are all working together with the PCT on practice based commissioning.
Bracknell offers all the amenities for modern living and is very close to the M3, M4 and M25. Within an hour’s drive you can be at the beach or in central London. There are also plenty of sports facilities including a large ice ring and ski slope.
